1.-Beginning with the interview, I would like
you to explain who are and how was born the idea of Khold as a band.
Khold is the reincarnation of Tulus. We reappear as a stronger
unit and as a complete band.
We decided to make Tulus a true band and we changed the name as we were
making a new start for this band. This was early 2001.
2.- It is strange that a new band signs with one of
the biggest companys of the exterme metal scene before it´s first
year of life. How did you get the chance to sign with Moonfog?
I don't know if they knew us before Khold. When I think about
it, Sarke knew one of the persons working for Moonfog before we signed
to them, but that has nothing to do with them picking us up. I know I
didn't know any of them personally, but of course I knew Satyr from Satyricon.
Luck has nothing to do with us getting signed to Moonfog. We deliver good
music, and that's what Moonfog wants. We're not a very commercial band,
but we try to bring our black metal to a darker path.
3.-
Nowadays, very few new bands play old style black metal, but it is also
a genre that black metal listeners appreciate. Why did yoy decide to play
this style, not really usual nowadays?
People say they like it, so I assume they do.
What do you mean it doesn't usually work with bands playing old style?
We have done this style for ages. It works for us. But then again we're
not newcomers to this kind of music.
4.-You left the Act Of Rebellion tour with Behemoth
and Carpathian Forest after your concert in Murcia (see MMAMM number one).
I´ve heard that there were problems with at least one of the bands
(Behemoth). Can you tell us what happened exactly?
Lets not get into that. Something happened on the buss and we
decided to leave the tour.
5.- After Masterpiss of Pain, how much time
will we have to wait until a new Khold Release banging our heads?
Soon, very soon. Our new album are supposed to be released march
this year.
It's a record witch definitely is a KHOLD record. Slow, hard, dark and
devastating. (And there are a few "fast" songs as well.) It's
titled "Phantom". Be sure to look for it!
6.- As I read in your homepage, you compose
the lyrics in an old fashioned medieval style of Norsk, thing that I like
because it also serves to keep alive your history. How can be explained
that a great part of the black metal bands from norway and sweden prefer
english for their lyrics when Norsk is perfect for black metal?
We're just using a few old words and old fashioned sentences.
I agree that Norsk is perfect for black metal. At least for us. The reason
why is that we have always had Norwegian lyrics. And obviously we feel
more comfortable with our own languish rather than English. It makes sense,
doesn't it?
7.- Once we have talked about the language of
your lyrics, let´s talk about the contents. What are the themes
Khold lyrics are inspired by?
The lyrics are about different things, such as old folklores,
mind-games and different feelings.
8.- Let´s talk now about concerts, What
are Khold plans for this year?
We have nothing planed yet. I think it will be a tour this year,
but I don't know when or where. Hopefully we can get on a tour as a support
act for a bigger band.
All the festivals (the big ones) are totally booked, so maybe another
year.
9.- As we said before you play old style black,
I would like to know which are the bands that influenced you as musicians
and on what are you inspired by when you compose your songs.
Darkthrone, Celtic Frost, Slayer, and so on. But inspiration comes
usually from other things than music. Books, movies, news, pure thought,
documentaries, life, death and so on and on and on and on.
10.-
As Khold you are a young band, but I woul like to know what bands have
you played with and how was the experience with them. What is the band
you liked most playing with them?
Which bands we have played with as Khold? Not many. We've played
the Inferno festival. There were a lot of bands there. Cadaver inc. played
to mention one.
We played with Einherjer sometime last year. And of course we have the
Behemoth tour with Carpathian Forest. I don't know if I liked to play
with any of these bands better than another, but it's important for me
that the people we work with behave them self in a good manner.
11.- I have relatively recent the concert of
Khold in Murcia, but i´m wishing to see you again. Have you planned
to play soon in Spain?
No, plans so far. Sorry.
